The temple faces East with its Main tower (Sala Gopuram) and three staged Raja gopuram. The Lord Silambani Chidambara Vinayagar got the name as the Chief idol is wearing the Silambu (Anklet). Behind the chamber of the Moolavar (Chief Lord) are the chambers of the Urchavar (Lord taken for Procession) and Goddesses Valli, Devasena and Lord Subramaniyar. Onto the left of the Moolavar (Chief Lord) chamber is the Navagraha (9 planets). The pillar before and on left side of the Moolavar has Lord Dandapani and is very auspicious. It is believed by the devotees that people can get the same blessings and the benefits of worshiping Lord Muruga at Palani Hill. Similarly the pillar before and on the right side of the Moolavar (Chief Lord) has the Goddess Durga in the Meditating posture. It is believed that worshiping Durga here by lighting lamps using lemons will bless women who are looking forward to get married with a good life partner. The people living around the temple consider it as a blessing to arrange for the bride to meet the bride groom and the families and also engagements for the marriages are also conducted here. Marriages done at the chambers of the Valli Devasena Subramanyar is also considered so auspicious. Three arches situated at a distance of 200 feet from the temple adds to the beauty of the temple and they are also considered emblems for the Devakottai Municipality. On the first and the last dates of the tamil month Aippasi, devotees in large numbers from the surroundings gather to participate and witness the holy dip done in the river. Similarly Vinayakar Chathurthi celebrated during the tamil month of Aavani and the procession of the Lord on the outer lane of the temple are very special. During the tamil month of Margazhi on the day of PIllayar Nonbu (Fasting for Pillayar), Nagarathar community (Mercantile community) people worship the Lord Vinayagar and get the sacred threads. This is believed that Lord will bless them with a hale and healthy life. The Lord Vinayagar is spoken of as Richer Vinayagar. People who have tremendous belief on Lord Silambani Chidambara Vinayagar are so confident that the Lord will shower blessings with Health and Posperity of all sort. | sthala_puran | The sacred temple of Silambani Chidambara Vinayagar is situated on the eastern bank of the Silambani pond of Devakottai municipality, in the district of Sivagangai. The temple faces East with its Main tower (Sala Gopuram) and three staged Raja gopuram. The Lord Silambani Chidambara Vinayagar got the name as the Chief idol is wearing the Silambu (Anklet). Behind the chamber of the Moolavar (Chief Lord) are the chambers of the Urchavar (Lord taken for Procession) and Goddesses Valli, Devasena and Lord Subramaniyar. Onto the left of the Moolavar (Chief Lord) chamber is the Navagraha (9 planets). The pillar before and on left side of the Moolavar has Lord Dandapani and is very auspicious. It is believed by the devotees that people can get the same blessings and the benefits of worshiping Lord Muruga at Palani Hill. Similarly the pillar before and on the right side of the Moolavar (Chief Lord) has the Goddess Durga in the Meditating posture. It is believed that worshiping Durga here by lighting lamps using lemons will bless women who are looking forward to get married with a good life partner. The people living around the temple consider it as a blessing to arrange for the bride to meet the bride groom and the families and also engagements for the marriages are also conducted here. Marriages done at the chambers of the Valli Devasena Subramanyar is also considered so auspicious. Three arches situated at a distance of 200 feet from the temple adds to the beauty of the temple and they are also considered emblems for the Devakottai Municipality. On the first and the last dates of the tamil month Aippasi, devotees in large numbers from the surroundings gather to participate and witness the holy dip done in the river. Similarly Vinayakar Chathurthi celebrated during the tamil month of Aavani and the procession of the Lord on the outer lane of the temple are very special. During the tamil month of Margazhi on the day of PIllayar Nonbu (Fasting for Pillayar), Nagarathar community (Mercantile community) people worship the Lord Vinayagar and get the sacred threads. This is believed that Lord will bless them with a hale and healthy life. The Lord Vinayagar is spoken of as Richer Vinayagar. People who have tremendous belief on Lord Silambani Chidambara Vinayagar are so confident that the Lord will shower blessings with Health and Posperity of all sort. It is also believed that people who believe and worship the Lord can have their wishes come true undoubtedly. |
